Becoming a teacher's pet can be very rewarding. However, the title of teacher's pet comes with some negative connotation. Still, there are more benefits than negatives to playing the part. Becoming a teacher's pet may take time and patience but it pays off in the end.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Start conversations with the teacher daily. Tell the teacher how much you enjoy and learn from his or her classes. Teachers, like everyone else, love a little ego boost from time to time. Ask about his or her family or pet. Get to know her on a more personal level.
Step2
Involve yourself in class discussions. Be the first to raise your hand.
Step3
Turn in homework on time or before the deadline. Do extra credit even if it is not needed. Out-shine your classmates whenever possible.
Step4
Ask to help with passing out papers, taking roll or organizing the classroom. Spend a couple of lunch periods in the class helping or just hanging out.
Step5
Give the teacher gifts on his birthday or on holidays.
Step6
Come to the class prepared. Bring everything you need and never be tardy.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always speak to the teacher in passing.
  • Some teachers do not respect the art of being a teacher's pet. Pay attention and notice if your teachers don't accept your helpfulness or compliments.
  • Being a teacher's pet can cause you to lose friends. Decide if getting an "A" is more important than having friends.
  • Teachers of the opposite sex may see your efforts as flirting. Be cautious when using these steps in a college or university.
