When it comes to maternity tops, women have many options to choose from. There are stylish tops, t-shirts, v-necks, sweaters and strapless tops. It is recommended that you purchase at least half a dozen maternity tops to last you through your pregnancy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy for the season. If you are going to be in the last stages of your pregnancy during the warmer months, wear tank tops and tees. Colder month pregnancies are more suitable for sweaters and long sleeve tees.

  2. Step 2

Invest in work and casual tops. You should split your purchases between casual tops that you can wear around the home and nicer tops that are work appropriate.

  3. Step 3

Look for empire waist tops. Empire waists fall below the breasts and are ideal for a pregnant woman's figure.

  4. Step 4

Decide on ties. Maternity tops can come with ties that you can tie above the waist or behind the back. The ties help adjust the fit of the top.

  5. Step 5

Wear a novelty tee or tank. These tops show that you have a sense of humor and they are fun to wear. Look for maternity tops with novelty sayings printed on them; "Haute Mama" and "Knocked Up" are two popular sayings.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that all maternity tops that you purchase offer enough support for your growing breasts. Many tops will have built-in bras.
  • Avoid overly big maternity tops. This style will only make you look heavy instead of pregnant.
  • Don't be afraid to wear a maternity v-neck top to showcase your ever expanding cleavage.
