If you are pregnant during the summer or plan on going on vacation while you are pregnant, you are going to have to invest in maternity swimwear. Maternity swimwear, whether a bathing suit or bikini, should fit well, provide the coverage you desire and be flattering to your pregnant figure.

From Quick Guide: Women's Swimwear Basics
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the level of exposure. Most women feel uncomfortable showing off too much skin while they are pregnant. Opt for a one-piece or a tankini if you do not wish to reveal your belly.

  2. Step 2

Wear swimwear with halter tops. A halter top bathing suit is ideal for a pregnant woman because of the support that it provides.

  3. Step 3

Choose a fun pattern. Busy floral and striped patterns are placed on maternity swimwear for women that do not wish to draw too much attention to a growing belly.

  4. Step 4

Look at the material. Nylon and spandex blends are the best for maternity swimwear because of the stretchiness of the fabric.

  5. Step 5

Go for the maternity tankini. Tankini tops are built to accommodate your belly while the bottoms will ride low for comfort.

Tips & Warnings
  • You must remember to buy a cover up as well. Maternity cover up dresses and swim skirts can be worn over your bathing suit.
  • You should only purchase one piece of maternity swimwear. It is not necessary to spend the money on swimwear that you may only wear a handful of times.
  • Don't be afraid to flaunt it. If you feel comfortable, buy swimwear that shows off your belly including a bikini.
