Wallpapering a dollhouse, much like a full-size house, is a great way to change the whole look of the room. Since it is often difficult to find just the right pattern or scale in pre-made dollhouse wallpaper, you might want to make your own wallpaper. With the right vision in mind, you can create wallpaper for your doll house from a variety of supplies.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Patterned paper
  • Wallpaper glue
  • Gift wrap
  • Fabric
  • Spray adhesive
  • Cardstock
  • Rubber stamps
  • Embossing powder
  • Wallpaper samples
  • Color copier
  1. Step 1

Shop at a scrapbook store where you can find small prints on paper that are ideal for wallpaper. Often there are even matching borders or stickers that will work well as a wall border or chair rail trim. The most popular size of scrapbook paper is 12 inch by 12 inch so be sure to buy enough sheets to cover your room's walls.

  2. Step 2

Peruse the gift wrap aisle. Small patterns can frequently be found, especially in children and baby patterns. Gift wrap cuts and creases easily and can easily be glued to walls. Limit the amount of glue used though since the paper is lighter and is prone to wrinkling.

  3. Step 3

Look for fabric that has a wallpaper pattern. Small checks, upholstery, toile, brocades and felted fabrics make ideal dollhouse wallpaper. Use a spray adhesive to securely attach the fabric to the wall.

  4. Step 4

Stamp a pattern onto cardstock with rubber stamps. Add embossing powder or flocking powder to add dimension. You can even draw or doodle on the paper with bleed-free pens.

  5. Step 5

Use actual wallpaper samples from sample books or remnants. Universal patterns don't need to be reduced and can be pasted directly on the walls.

  6. Step 6

Reduce a larger pattern on a color copier to create custom wallpaper. Use an actual piece of wallpaper or fabric. You can also reduce and stitch sections together using a scanner.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cover seams or edges by using molding trim. You can also add molding as a chair rail.
  • Use a brayer to smooth the paper onto the walls.
  • Use the appropriate amount of wallpaper glue. Too much glue will sometimes make the paper warp and wrinkle, cause colors to bleed or leak through the paper. Use a spray adhesive if in doubt.
