How to Self -Publish a Book of Poetry

Self-publishing your own book is very gratifying. Taking a creation and bringing it to life with your own two hands is something to be proud of. The development of technology and publishing websites has made it easy and cost effective for authors to self-publish. Once your book has been created and typed, you just need to creating your product at a website and tell the world about it.

Things You’ll Need:

• Completed collection of poems
• Computer with Internet access
• Word processor program

1. Gather your collection of poems together and type them up.
2. Create a title for the book of poems. Write an author biography and a dedication. Type them into the book document too.
3. Spell check the entire document carefully. Look for spelling and grammatical errors. Save your document as the title of your book.
4. Visit Lulu.com. Register for a free account at lulu. Follow the onscreen instructions to open an account.
5. Login to the Lulu website and click the "publish" tab. On the left-hand side table, under "Start a new project," click on the type of book that you would like to publish (paperback book or hardcover book).
6. Fill out the form on the next page. Enter the title, author, keywords, description, publisher and ISBN number if available. Choose which category that you would like the book placed in. Click
   "Save" and continue.
7. Follow the onscreen directions until the book has been completely published. The process takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
8. Order a copy of your book to proofread and to make sure it is exactly what you want.

Tips & Warnings

• When your book is published, create some business cards that have a link to your new book. Create flyers, and contact local newspapers to make everybody aware of your new book.
