How to Pimp a Hearse

The hearse is the traditional mode of transporting the dead. In spite of this, many people love to drive hearses and trick them out in unusual styles. The basic theme is often times a morbid or Gothic style, which makes use of the hearse's macabre reputation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Get a great paint job in a funereal black or with flames and brighter colors. This will show the contrast between the hearse's intended purpose, and the fun purpose it serves now.
Step2
Make use of decals on the sides and back of the car. Use the grim reaper and skull and crossbones decals, if using a menacing pimp out style.
Step3
Pimp your floor covering. Put down plush carpet, such as purple shag. Jet black works well with the macabre theme.
Step4
Invest in a great sound system. Use the speakers to pump out the bass, so people know a pimped out hearse is arriving.
Step5
Get curtains for the side windows. Style the curtains to match your theme. Keep curtains closed to add to the mystery of what's inside.
Step6
Cover your seats with a plush material, vinyl or other funky textile. The local upholstery shop will have a selection of coverings to choose from, or try the local retail shops, which carry ready-made car seat covers.
Step7
Hang decorations from the rear view mirror, which match your theme. New Age shops will have an eclectic selection, while an auto parts store will carry other styles, which will fit a more traditional pimp out fashion.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check out an online pimp out website or a low-rider car magazine for inspiration.
