A slide projector is still a great way to show detailed still images. Whether you want to show pictures of real estate sites or slides of your last vacation, a slide projector will give you clear, colorful images at a fraction of the cost of a digital projector. So, how can your get the best results from your slide projector?

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Focus your slide projector at the beginning of your presentation. Once the first slide is in focus, all the following slides should also be in focus. This is not the case with slides that have different types of mounts. If you are using slides with different types of mounts, be prepared to manually refocus your projector during your presentation.
Step2
Choose the right kind of lens. This will ensure that the edges of your image are in focus. If your slides are on a cardboard mount or another mount with beveled edges, a curved-field lens is best. For any other kind of slide mount, a flat-field lens will work fine.
Step3
Put your slide projector one focal length away from your projection screen. The focal length is the distance your projector must be from the screen to get a perfect focus. Different lenses have different focal lengths that range from 13 feet to 30 feet. Check the lens' instructions for your proper focal length.
Step4
Make sure your lamp is tightly secured before beginning your presentation. This will make sure that it does not get loose. A loose lamp will stop projecting an image.
Step5
Follow your manufacturer's instructions for adding and removing slides. Some slide projectors require that you hold down a level to move or rearrange slides. If you do not add or remove slides properly, you could damage your slide's mount.
Step6
Keep your slide projector clean. Use soft, lint-free cloths to clean the lens and the mirror. Use condensed air to clean out the fan.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear gloves whenever you open up your slide projector to clean it. This will reduce fingerprints.
