Step 1
Give the customer service representative a smile and be as kind to them as possible when you deal with them. If they don't return the politeness, then say something along the lines of, "I am sorry you are having a bad day but it is not polite to spread your bad day to others."
-
Step 2
Remember that it is not personal. They are usually just in a bad mood or might have been reprimanded before serving you. It's possible that they could have just had rude customers.
-
Step 3
Check your own behavior. Maybe you sent out a rude vibe or accidentally said something that was out of line. Maybe you didn't say "please" and "thank you." If you didn't, then apologize to your customer service representative.
-
Step 4
Talk to the person who gave you rude customer service and tell them honestly how you feel. If you need to wait until you calm down before you deal with them then do so and return later or another day. Just remember to control the tone of your voice and be polite.
-
Step 5
Write a letter to the manager and explain the incident. Make sure you include the date and time of your visit and the name of the person who helped you. Keep the letter cordial and to the point. If nothing else, you'll be able to vent your experience so the next patron will have a better outcome.
