How to Plan a Dollywood Vacation

Dollywood and Dollywood Splash Country are a theme park and water park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee that are owned by Dolly Parton. The parks were created for family entertainment. Dollywood offers visitors amusement park rides, musical performances, festivals and activities for children of any age.

Instructions

1. Decide on a time to visit Dollywood. The parks are closed from January to mid-March. Check www.dollywood.com for a list of annual festivals. If you do not like large crowds, visit on weekdays or when there is not a festival.

2. Plan for the weather. Bring a light jacket in the spring and fall. During the summer, brings a swimsuit for the water rides and an extra set of clothes for their ride home.

3. Book your hotel or cabin. Check the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg websites for a list of available lodging. Many hotels and resorts in the area offer package deals with Dollywood theme parks. During the low season, many offer free Dollywood tickets.

4. Purchase tickets to the theme parks at the Dollywood website or at the box office. Some retail and grocery stores in the Pigeon Forge area offer special discounts on the tickets.

5. Plan for meals. No outside food is allowed in Dollywood. You can leave get your hand stamped, leave the park for lunch and then re-enter later in the day. There are picnic areas around the park as well as restaurants and vendors inside Dollywood.

6. Explore Pigeon Forge. Pigeon Forge is home to many arts and crafts masters. Pottery, stained glass and woodcarvings are some of the crafts available. Shopping is plentiful in the area with multiple outlet malls.
