The Burntwood Folk Festival has established itself as one of the premier folk events in the country. With two external concert stages and one internal one, as well as a free beer tent where local artists get to strut their stuff, the festival offers three August days positively brimming with good music and good company.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Visit the Burntwood Folk Festival website (see Resources).
Step2
Check out the line-up for the Burntwood Folk Festival weekend. Are there some artists in particular that you want to see or do you want to take it all in?
Step3
Decide on which days you plan to attend. The Burntwood Folk Festival runs from Friday to Sunday.
Step4
Buy tickets via a link on the Burntwood Folk Festival website or by calling 01543 271269. Tickets can be purchased separately for each day or you can get a weekend ticket covering you for the full 3 days. Children under 14 can enter free when accompanied by an adult but you still need to order tickets for them all the same.

If you buy your tickets several months in advance, you will get a discount. Day tickets can also be purchased on the spot when the festival is underway.
Step5
Book accommodation. Camping is available on the festival site at a cost of £10 for the whole weekend. If you prefer something a bit softer to sleep on, you will find details of a number of local bed and breakfast establishments on the Burntwood Folk Festival website.
Step6
Plan your journey. Lichfield is the nearest major town to the Burntwood Folk Festival site. Use the Visit Lichfield website to get maps and travel information (see Resources).

Tips & Warnings

  • Discounts on ticket prices are available to students, the unemployed, the elderly and to local residents of Burntwood. You will need to provide proof of your status should you wish to take advantage of these offers.
  • There’s more than music to be found at the Burntwood Folk Festival. Dancers, story-tellers, children’s entertainers and a Craft Fayre will keep you entertained.
  • No fires are allowed on the Burntwood Folk Festival camp site.
