How to Purchase Airline Tickets to Burning Man
The commercial airport nearest to Burning Man is the relatively small Reno Airport (RNO). It's nearly 120 miles, or about a 3-hour drive, away. Airline connections to RNO are available through American, Delta, Southwest, Continental, United, US Airways and several smaller airlines.

Determine how many people are traveling and discuss your optimal dates for arriving at and leaving Burning Man.

Purchase your airline tickets accordingly. Decide now if you want to stay over in a hotel room in Reno before and/or after the event, or if you want to schedule a side trip.

Purchase your tickets as early as possible in order to save on tickets and take advantage of specials. American, Delta, Southwest, Continental, United and US Airways all have easy-to-find websites and 800 telephone numbers, or you can use a travel website to search for low prices.
Arrange All Logistics Related to Your Flights

Print out and keep directions from the Reno Airport to Burning Man. You can find directions through the Burning Man driving directions webpage (see Resources below). Regardless of how you connect from the airport to Burning Man, you or someone else in your vehicle will need these directions. Don't try to get these from another source, because they would not include the crucial last 12 miles from Gerlach to Black Rock City.

Purchase your tickets to Burning Man at the same time you purchase your airplane tickets. You don't want to have one without the other.

Arrange for your connections from the Reno Airport to Burning Man. You have two primary choices: rental car or ride sharing. To save funds and fuel, check the Burning Man ride share search early and often, and consider posting your own appeal for rides to and from the festival (see Resources below).

Email the temporary Black Rock City International Airport at airport@burningman.com for current information if you seek permission and logistical information for bringing a small airplane, glider, hot air balloon, skydiving gear, ultralight or helicopter to the festival. Burning Man is required to coordinate air traffic with the Bureau of Land Management, and such logistics as runway location are often not known until just before the festival. Avoid flying over Black Rock City at any altitude.

Burning Man does not provide transportation from the Reno Airport (or anywhere else) to the festival. You need to make your own ground connections. If you arrange to ride with others, offer to share costs.
