Plan Ahead for Oktoberfest in Ocala
Step1
Formulate your route to Silver Springs Natural Park before you hit the road, keeping in mind that the morning and late afternoon are the busiest times on the road. Silver Springs is located just outside of Ocala in the north central section of Florida. The park's website features directions to the Oktoberfest site from all directions (see Resources below).
Step2
Enjoy the parade put on by the Marion County German American Club on each Saturday of Oktoberfest. The members of this group celebrate Oktoberfest by wearing authentic German clothing and answering questions by festival goers about the history of the festival. Check out the club's booth after the parade for more information on German heritage in Florida.
Step3
Schedule time to see the Alpine Folk Dancers on the performing stage at the Ocala Oktoberfest celebration. This group of skilled dancers performs a variety of routines based on northern European dance styles and music.
Step4
Settle down with an Oktoberfest beer and bratwurst at the Billy Bowlegs Bar and Grill. This large restaurant is the epicenter of the festival's activities in Silver Springs Nature Park, with hundreds of seats available for park goers. Use Billy Bowlegs as a place to celebrate and a central meeting spot for your travel group.
Step5
Help your children embrace their German roots by bringing them to Oktoberfest at discounted prices. Children under the age of 3 get into the park for free and attendees between 3 and 12 get a half price ticket when compared to adult admission.
