Instructions

  1. Prepare for the Maradona Move

Work on your balance by standing on one leg at a time for 30 to 45 seconds. Bend your other leg up so your knee is straight out in front your body.

    • 2

Practice spinning your body. Start by turning your upper body with your shoulders and arms, rising up onto the ball of one foot and pulling your lower body through the spin.

Place your right foot on top of the ball, causing the ball to come to a complete stop. Your foot should remain on the ball the entire time.

    • 5

Jump into the air, pushing up with your left foot.

    • 6

Rotate your body on your right foot, which should still be on the ball.

    • 7

Replace your right foot with your left foot on the ball while your body continues to spin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the Maradona move sparingly and avoid using this move when defenders are close enough to you to kick the ball out from under your feet.

  • Make the first move of placing your foot on the ball look like you plan to kick the ball to a teammate.

  • Execute this move within 1 second to be completely successful. You may need to work up slowly to completing it in less than 1 second.

  • Don't place all of your weight on the soccer ball because you will likely lose your balance and control of the ball.
