As you move the soccer ball down the field, you will attract the attention of the opposing team's defenders. When two defenders surround you, do the 360 spin move so you can fake out one or (hopefully) both of the defenders. When the defenders are out of position after the spin, you are left with several different options for moving the ball forward.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One or two defenders
  • Large open field
  • Soccer ball

Practice the 360 Spin Move in Soccer

  1. Step 1

Dribble the ball forward slowly to do this move at a pace where you can concentrate on making the proper moves.

  2. Step 2

Jump up into the air and spin your body around with a 180 degree turn.

  3. Step 3

Run your right foot lightly over the top of the soccer ball, spinning the ball forward. You should make contact with the soccer ball with the ball of your right foot.

  4. Step 4

Spin your body on your right foot as it comes in contact with the top portion of the ball.

  5. Step 5

Move your right foot off the ball and back to the ground with your body still spinning.

  6. Step 6

Lift your left foot from the ground near the soccer ball to the top of the soccer ball as your right foot is leaving the soccer ball. Both feet should be in the air for a split second as your feet make the transition.

  7. Step 7

Continue your body spin with your left foot lightly touching the top of the soccer ball.

  8. Step 8

Land on your left foot and dribble the ball away.

  9. Step 9

Change your spin by starting with your left foot and spinning in the opposite direction.

Tips & Warnings
  • You will need good balance to successfully do the spin move. You want to manipulate the ball while in the air.
  • Make sure you are always aware of where the defenders are as you do the 360 move so you protect the ball properly.
  • Practice the spin slowly and gradually increase your speed.
  • Never land on top of the ball with your weight because the ball will shoot out from under you and more than likely throw you to the ground.
  • Watch how often you use this tricky move. Overusing it could decrease its effectiveness. Instead, use it in combination with a variety of "fake out" moves for the greatest efficiency.
