Step 1
Visit the Oxfam America website to view the current volunteer opportunities available in the United States (see Resources below). International volunteer positions are not available.
-
Step 2
Decide you would rather be a volunteer than an intern for Oxfam. A requirement to apply for a volunteer position with Oxfam is a lack of interest in becoming an Oxfam intern.
-
Step 3
Find a volunteer position that interests you. Oxfam works directly on a wide range of social issues and emergency relief. Oxfam operates information campaigns that need volunteer support as well.
-
Step 4
Write a cover letter stating why you are interested in volunteer work with Oxfam. Include Oxfam issues that are important to you, like equality for women, global trade or indigenous rights.
-
Step 5
Revamp your resume. Make sure to include all volunteer work that is similar to the position you are applying for. List your language skills and pertinent hobbies like gardening.
-
Step 6
Send your cover letter and resume by email to internsandvolunteers@oxfamamerica.org. Include the name of the position you are applying for in the subject line of the email.
-
Step 1
Use your career to make a difference and work for Oxfam International or a partner organization. Job openings and links to Oxfam affiliates can be found on the Oxfam website.
-
Step 2
Donate to Oxfam (see Resources below). Make a one-time online donation, a monthly pledge or consider one of the more creative ways Oxfam provides to donate.
-
Step 3
Volunteer your energy to campaign work on one of Oxfam America's international campaigns. Sign online petitions, send a message to government officials or download kits to help spread the word about social justice.
-
Step 4
Consider a job through Oxfam America. You can find Oxfam positions in the United States working at an Oxfam office on the Oxfam America website.
