Instructions

Volunteer at the Church World Service

  1. Step 1

Be an activist. The Church World Service encourages people to bring issues to the attention of their representatives. Visit the homepage of the national CWS website to see the current issues (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Volunteer to help with the CROP Hunger Walk. Raise awareness of worldwide hunger in the community and help raise funds. The money raised from this walk helps local agencies which provide food to those in need as well as other programs run by the Church World Service.

  3. Step 3

Volunteer to start a CROP walk in your community if you don't already have one. Contact your local chapter to find out how to start one.

  4. Step 4

Offer to help with the CWS Tools and Blankets program. This program helps to provide items and services needed by people for daily living and by victims in times of disaster.

  5. Step 5

Participate in the CWS Kit program. In this program, you can help to create small packages of useful items to assist people in need. The kits include school kits, health kits, baby kits, heart-to-heart kids kit and emergency clean-up bucket.

  6. Step 6

Consider creating a personal fundraising page in honor of or in memory of a loved one, or to celebrate special occasions. Donations to your fundraising page will help support programs run by the Church World Service.

  7. Step 7

Think about making a donation. You can make a planned donation, a one-time donation or match a gift. You can make your donation online, by telephone or via mail.

  8. Step 8

Consider giving a gift. You can give a gift of blankets, water buffalo or a water well, amongst other things, to people in need around the world. Visit the "Best Gift Catalog" for more information (see Resources below).

  9. Step 9

Encourage your employer to participate in the Matching Gift Program. Learn more about how your employer can help at the CWS website (see Resources below).
