Contact your state's wildlife agency regarding wallaroos specifically. Wallaroos are marsupials, which are often banned across the board. Some states only have regulations regarding dangerous wild animals, including kangaroos. Since wallaroos and kangaroos are so closely related, you need to research the laws further.

Check county laws and regulations if you live in an unincorporated area of your county. Some counties are more lenient than cities regarding exotic animals as pets.

Confirm your ability to keep wallaroos as pets within city limits. You may need a special license. Many cities ban all exotic animals kept as pets, regardless of whether they are allowed by the state.

Read through the all of the regulations for owning wild animals and the entire application for a permit and license. You may need to undergo a facility inspection to ensure you have the proper housing for your wallaroos.

Determine what kind of health certificate you need to bring your pets into the state or to cross state lines. The health certificate may be required even when a permit is not.

Ask your Home Owner's Association (HOA) whether they have any rules regarding keeping wild or exotic animals as pets. While these rules are not technically laws, you may run into problems since you agreed to these codes when you moved into the neighborhood. If your HOA outlaws exotic animals, you can petition to have the rules changed.

Visit your local humane society for information on laws regarding pet wallaroos. Someone at the humane society should be able to help you research local laws.
