Apply for a permit to own a monkey if you live in Delaware, Idaho, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon or South Dakota. All of these states require that you apply for a permit before you purchase a monkey.

Pay a fee to own a pet monkey legally in Nevada. Typically, no permit is required, but remember to check with county and city requirements.

Check with the Department of Wildlife in certain states before purchasing a monkey. Alaska, Arizona, Indiana, Mississippi and Tennessee ban some monkey breeds, but allow ownership of others.

I have plenty of time cam. starting jan 1st 2011 illinois passed a law, prohibiting any primate of any kind to own, excluding circuses and zoo's...pretty shitty considering , ive been preparing for this forever. I found a breeder in florida and he actually invited me to his animal house for a tour. only thing that kinda sucks besides the laws here id pay2,300 for the monkey, (common marmoset, their awesome look them up)then have to wait for the breeding process and I wouldn't get him/her tor at least 8 weeks. sorry lot to say.

you have to become licensed. its not really a good idea unless ur rich n don't have to go into work all the time. There a lot like humans. If they don't have a lot of social interactions they get depression problems.
