Tarot cards were first introduced as playing cards in Northern Italy in the 14th century. Although they continue to be used as playing cards in parts of Europe, they are more commonly used as divination cards worldwide. The deck of 78 cards is divided into 22 cards, called the major arcana, and four sets of 14 cards, called the minor arcana. Each card has a different meaning. Tarot cards can be used for a variety of things, from checking for solutions to problems to predicting the future. They are commonly used by psychics to give a reading. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

    Book a Tarot Card Reading

  1. Step 1

Think about your comfort level. If you are nervous about meeting with a psychic you may want to make arrangements with a friend to go with you. You may also want to consider a group reading.

  2. Step 2

Prepare your questions. Think carefully about all the questions you will want to have answered before you book your reading and write them down.

  3. Step 3

Decide on the amount you are comfortable spending for a Tarot card reading. Psychics usually charge by session slots, which are usually 30 minutes or one hour long. The time slots could be more or less, depending on the psychic.

  4. Step 4

Decide on the amount of time you are willing to book with the psychic. You may find that you still have questions to ask at the end of a 30-minute session or you may find that all your questions have been answered before your one-hour session is complete.

  5. Step 5

Choose the venue. You can visit the psychic or ask if the psychic can come to you. You might even prefer to have your tarot reading over the phone or online, via instant chat or email.

  6. Step 6

Search for a tarot card reader who can meet your needs. Ask the psychic for references or testimonials to be sure that she does have experience.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are many types of tarot cards and the pictures vary from deck to deck. Some may even have religious pictures--it all depends on the artist's interpretation. Note that Oracle cards are different from tarot cards because they are used differently and do not have the same card structure.
  • Watch your minutes carefully if you decide to call a psychic line, as it can rapidly get expensive.
