Managing all of the various windows that are open when you're working on a computer can sometimes be an overwhelming task. Luckily, Mac OS Tiger includes lots of little shortcuts to help you conduct your computer business much easier. Knowing how to manipulate windows can also make managing your work faster.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Open up a finder browser window. The quickest way to do this is to double-click on your hard drive with the mouse.
Step2
Understand your options for manipulating window size. You can click and drag on the bottom right corner of the window to adjust its size. You can also use the green "+" button into the upper left corner of the window to auto-adjust its size.
Step3
Learn to minimize windows. You can send windows to the dock to help clean up your screen by pressing the red "-" button in the upper left corner of the window. You can also double click on the title bar of the window and it will be sent to the dock.
Step4
Click once on a window in the dock to send it back to the screen. You can click and hold on the title bar to drag it around to a different position on your screen. Click the red "x" button in the upper left to close the window.
Step5
Open a bunch of different windows to clutter up your screen on purpose. Try to get windows from different programs like one from a word processing program, an Internet browser, a music program and a couple of finder windows. You can easily manipulate all of these different windows with Mac OS Tiger.
Step6
Press the "F11" key on your keyboard. Notice that all of the open windows have slide to the edges of the screen and you can now see your desktop. Press "F11" again or click on any of the gray bars on the edge of the screen to return the windows.
Step7
Click on one of the open finder windows. Press the "F10" button on your keyboard. Now all of the open finder windows are arranged on your screen. Clicking on any of these windows will bring it to the front. This key is a great way to manage multiple windows that belong to one application, like fast switching between documents.
Step8
Press the "F9" key. Notice that all of your open windows are now resized and arranged on your screen. If you mouse over a window, the computer will tell you the name of the document and the application it belongs to. Click on any window to bring it to the front of your screen.
