Windows XP brought with it the advent of Media Center, an all in one media hub that families could use for various forms of entertainment. You could produce photo albums, listen to music, watch movies directly from your PC or share that experience via a connected television. Windows Vista updates and enhances Windows Media Center, and provides even more power to the user. It's easy to add new content like DVD movies in a flash.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Windows Vista
  • Windows Media Center
  • DVD optical drive
  • DVDs

Add DVD Movies to Windows Vista Media Center

Step1
Begin the Media Center application from the Start menu ("Start" then "All Programs" then "Media Center"). Some users may also find it in the Quick Launch bar or within the Multimedia directory in the Start menu.
Step2
Place a DVD in the DVD tray of your optical drive. Ensure that it is label side up.
Step3
Wait for the movie to autostart. By default Windows Vista Media Center is set to automatically start any DVD movies that are placed in the DVD tray.
Step4
Choose the "Play DVD" option from the Media Center main menu. This is a great option for when you already have a DVD in the tray from a previous viewing and it does not automatically start to play again. Clicking the "Play DVD" from the main menu can also automatically return you to the previous point where you were when last watching your movies.
