Tips & Warnings

  • You cannot actually uninstall Windows Vista. If you wish to get rid of it, you must install another operating system on your computer instead. This will overwrite Windows Vista. If you install another version of Windows, it will not write over your files that were stored on Windows Vista. Instead, it will give you the option to import them into the new operating system. Still, it is always a good idea to back up all your files before making any major changes to your computer.

  • As a precaution against accidental deletion, you cannot format your main hard drive while Windows Vista is in use. You must do it with the installation disc instead.

  • Formatting your hard drive will delete all files and programs on it. Do not use this option unless you are absolutely certain that this is what you want to do.
