Step 1
Come prepared. Have your complete medical history readily available, and don't forget to bring along a list of questions you want to ask about brow lift surgery.
-
Step 2
Bring along a friend or family member. Your friend can be your moral support, help you remember all of the questions you want to ask and take notes. This will be especially helpful if your friend or loved one is going to help you during your recovery period.
-
Step 3
Be forthcoming. Don't withhold information. The doctor needs to know many things about you, including your medical history, what medications you are on, if you have any diseases and if you have previously had plastic surgery work done. This is not the time to keep secret potentially embarrassing information, such as an addiction to painkillers or alcohol.
-
Step 4
Speak up. Some very fine doctors don't have a good "bedside manner." Don't be intimidated by words you don't understand or by the doctor's impatience. If the doctor tells you something you don't understand, ask for an explanation. You may need to say, "I still don't understand. Could you explain it more clearly?"
-
Step 5
Question your doctor about the different techniques and procedures used in brow lift surgery. Find out about the risks and possible complications of each type of surgery.
-
Step 6
Ask to see before and after photos of the doctor's patients. Brow lift surgery is about results.
-
Step 7
Review preoperative and postoperative instructions with your doctor. Following your doctor's instructions is the most important thing you can do to ensure that you get the results you are hoping for and have a successful recovery.
-
Step 8
Follow up. Once you leave the doctor's office after your consultation, you will inevitably remember a question that you forgot to ask or realize there is something you don't quite understand. Don't hesitate to phone your doctor or even request a follow-up visit, if necessary.
