There are several different techniques surgeons can use to perform brow lift surgery. They include coronal brow lift, endoscopic brow lift (also known as an "endobrow"), temporal or lateral brow lift, mid-forehead brow lift and direct brow lift. The technique you eventually choose will depend on many factors: your facial features, your age, your goals for the surgery and whether you want an invasive or noninvasive procedure. It is important to thoroughly research each technique before settling on a procedure.

    Research Brow Lift Surgery Techniques

  1. Step 1

Schedule a complimentary consultation with a local, board certified plastic surgeon. You can get many of your questions about brow lift surgery techniques answered during this consultation.

  2. Step 2

Ask each surgeon you meet with to outline the types of brow lift surgery she performs. Ask for a lift of referrals, as well. Your surgeon may be able to put you in touch with former patients of hers.

  3. Step 3

Research a brow lift technique know as a transpalpebral browlift if you are a bald man. This technique utilizes incisions made in the upper crease of the eyelid. You can learn more about it online at BeautySurg (see Resources below).

  4. Step 4

Read a book on cosmetic plastic surgery. "A Little Work: The Truth Behind Plastic Surgery's Park Avenue Façade" by Z. Paul Lorenc and Trish Hall offers information on various surgical procedures and techniques, as well as technology advancements in the field (see Resources below).

  5. Step 5

Research the endobrow technique, unless you have an excessive amount of sagging forehead skin you wish to have removed. The pluses include minimal loss of sensation and less scarring, while the drawback is that no skin is actually surgically removed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask your doctor to show you before and after pictures of former patients she has performed surgery on using the various techniques. See what you think looks best.
  • Be sure you know all of the risks associated with each procedure. Write down questions to ask your surgeon during your first consultation, and take notes while you are talking to the doctor.
