How to Select a Bubble Bath Toy

Some children dread taking baths, but bubble bath toys are a great way to add fun to their bath rituals. Whether you're buying a bubble bath toy for your own child or purchasing one as a gift for someone else's, there are a few things to keep in mind when making your selection.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Select Bubble Bath Toys

  1. Step 1

Choose cute animation-themed characters to liven up your kids' baths. You'll find a number of bath toys modeled after Mickey Mouse and his friends, for example. Also look for bath toys that express your kids' interests, such as car-shaped toys or toy dinosaurs.

  2. Step 2

Look for bubble bath toys that do more than just float around on the water. For instance, some companies make waterproof, interactive bath "stations" that let your kids spin dials, produce mounds of bubbles and make sounds.

  3. Step 3

Find a soap-dispensing model for maximum efficiency and bathing fun. Look for a bubble bath toy that's equipped with a sponge on one side and can be filled with your own bath gel.

  4. Step 4

Choose bubble bath toys without hard surfaces or sharp edges. Some kids tend to get hyper in the bath and you don't want any potentially dangerous toys thrown around the bathroom.

  5. Step 5

Buy a relatively wide selection of bath toys to keep your kids from getting bored. For instance, try to have a selection of floating toys like rubber duckies, a few toys that perform some kind of action (like propelling themselves around the water) and toys that actually facilitate bath time, like soft, animal-shaped faucet covers and colorful sponges.

  6. Step 6

Consider purchasing a storage container to keep all of your bubble bath toys in one place. Make sure the container is waterproof and breathable, so toys have a chance to dry out once you put them away. A simple mesh drawstring bag hanging on a peg over the bathtub can be a good option.

Tips & Warnings
  • Select solid or easy-to-dissemble bubble bath toys, which can be aired out and dried sufficiently to prevent mold growth and algae from tainting your bath with bacteria.
  • Select only well-labeled bubble bath toys free of carcinogens and other toxins banned in the United States.
  • Don't give your kids bath toys that aren't specifically designed to go in the tub. Plastic action figures and toy cars, for instance, can easily sink to the bottom of the bath, where they can cause injuries.
