For many people, visiting Belfast is not complete without a good, old-fashioned pub crawl. However, if you have never been on a pub crawl before, or if you have never been to Belfast before, how exactly do you know which pubs are better? Here you will find everything you need to know to have the best possible Belfast pub crawl.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Really, you should never start a pub crawl without having eaten. Drinking on an empty stomach can make you more ill than usual and so it is always better to eat first and then drink the night away. With this in mind you first need to find a bar which doubles as a restaurant and the Speranza is the ideal place for that.
Step2
Once you have eaten at the Speranza restaurant and sampled one of their fine wines, it is then time to move on. The Morning Star is the place you should now head out to. What better way to start your pub crawl off than to visit a bar with a lot of history. Later on you will be too drunk to appreciate the history behind the bar, so it is better to see it as early on into the pub crawl as possible.
Step3
Once you have sampled the historic delights of the Morning Star, it is then time to move on to the Mountainview Tavern. This has been recently refurbished but it still has a strong Belfast traditional theme which you can enjoy for another couple of pints. There is even a sheltered beer garden with a plasma screen outside that is perfect if there is a football match on.
Step4
At 10 p.m. head to the Crescent Arts Centre which boasts live acts and live music, creating a fantastic, unique setting. At the end of the evening a DJ will round things off, but if you would prefer to leave before then, you should head to the Suffolk Inn.
Step5
The Suffolk Inn is great if you are looking to mix with the locals as well as meeting other tourists. It boasts friendly staff, live entertainment and music and activities such as live football broadcasting, a darts team and a golfing society. Here you can enjoy the rest of your night before heading home and passing out on the sofa!

Tips & Warnings

  • It is always better to decide upon where you are going before you actually go out. This is because whilst you may want to be a little spontaneous, if you haven’t a clue where you are going you could end up in some of the worst bars in Belfast.
