How to Beat a Parking Ticket in Dublin

Increasingly, Dublin is becoming one of the most popular cities in Europe. This is great for tourism, but on the downside it means the centre is becoming crammed with cars and as a result there are fewer places to park. People are taking their chances, leaving there car illegally parked for five minutes, only to be lumped with yet another parking ticket. The following steps show you how to beat them.

1. Find a parking space outside the centre and catch public transport into the city. This may cost a few euros, but is far cheaper than having to pay a heavy parking fine.
2. Offer to take an eldery neighbor into Dublin at the same time and use their disabled sticker to park in the handicapped spaces. Not ideal, but it is far more ethical than borrowing a disabled sticker from them and using it without them there.
3. Leave a sign in your car like “nurse on duty,” “mid-wife on call.” We have no idea if they work, but it is worth trying to avoid a parking fine.
4. Get political and visit the Beat the Clampers website (link below) and sign the petition to cut down on clamping in Dublin city centre. These people don’t want to just beat getting parking tickets, but put a stop to them altogether.
