How to Plan a Weekend at Cambridge Folk Festival

The Cambridge Folk festival is famed for its intimate atmosphere, stripping down from the usual four piece band to just one man and his acoustic. The festival has been a must go for the folk fans since 1964, and with the appearances of Richard Thompson and Cerys Matthews, this year looks set to continue the tradition.

1. Check out the festival homepage to see a full line up of all the bands and the times they are playing.
2. Look at reviews of the festival. If you haven’t been to the Cambridge Folk Festival before and you are not quite sure what to expect, check out reviews on the internet.
3. Join the mailing list. Festival line ups are subject to change and this is a good way to make sure you one of the first to know.
4. Look at ticket prices and what it will include. Festivals can charge for all sorts of things, some included in the ticket price and some not.
5. Book your tickets by phoning 01223 357 851. Cambridge Folk Festival is incredibly popular, so book tickets early.
6. Book your camping space. The folk festival charges money for a space that is 4.5M x 3.5M: enough room for a 2- to 3-man tent. It is more expensive for a camper van unless they take up the same space as a tent, and then there is a 50% discount.
7. Plan how to get there. The easiest way to get to the Cambridge festival is to drive. When you get close to the festival it is sign posted with blue signs for campers, taking people directly to the campsite, and red signs for day tickets.

• If you are a Cambridge resident, it is possible to get a discount and even tickets that have been advertised as sold out--of course you will have to prove your address. For tickets, phone [phone].

• There is a shuttle bus from the campsites to the venue.
