Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Check out the Cambridge website for information (link below) on what’s on throughout the year in the city and surrounding area.
Step2
Buy a "Cambridge A-Z" street map. It is easy to get lost in the maze of side streets and alleyways.
Step3
Buy a "Cambridge Visitor card." This can be bought when you are in Cambridge and allows you many special offers and discounts in various restaurants and tourist attractions.
Step4
Think about how you are going to get around Cambridge. One of the easiest and cheapest methods of travel is by bike. Cycles can be hired across the city and cyclists are well provided for by a huge network of cycle lanes. There is also a free shuttle bus available to all parts of the city, every 15 minutes. It runs Monday to Saturday 9-5. There are many pedestrian only zones in the centre.
Step5
Go punting. Punts can be taken up the river from Silver St, Quayside and Trinity College. Guided tours can be booked with your own chauffer. Phone 01233 363 360.
Step6
Plan how you are going to get there. Your car can be left at the Park and Ride on the edge of Cambridge City. A train can be taken to the Cambridge railway station and from here a bus can be caught for a £1 into the centre. Harwich ferry port and Stansted airport are also nearby.
