Nothing, absolutely nothing, ruins a day or camping trip like getting soaked in the rain. It is important to keep not only your body, but you belongings dry as well. Here's how...

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • an umbrella
  • a raincoat
  • a newspaper
  • waterproof boots
  • a cheery and optimistic perosnality

Step1
The first thing that any intelligent person would do is start the day off by looking at the weather forecast to see what the chances are that it may rain over the course of the day. There are several ways to do this. One, you can look at the television weather report in the morning newscast. This may be a good indicator. Second, you can check an online weather forecast. Third, you could go outside and look up at the sky. A good way to tell if it might rain is to look for clouds that are gray or really dark gray. These may indicate a possibility of rain showers soon or at some point during the day. Some who are more adventurous may actually step outside of their residences and feel the air for rain. This is mostly an old wive' s tale. This is not possible.
Step2
Ok. So you've checked the weather forecast for the day. Let's hope you didn't actually go outside yet because that is probably the quickest way to get wet in the rain. What did the forecast say? Most likely it gave you a percentage chance of precipitation. Precipitation is just a fancy word for rain, don't listen to what those weather people say on television. Most of them have degrees in Communications, not Meteorology anyway. Was the percentage higher or lower than 50? If it was higher you better just stay inside. If it was lower than 50 you'd better go outside only if you are prepared with a raincoat, waterproof footwear, or an umbrella. Sometimes on television we see people using a newspaper when caught in a sudden downpour. This is ill-advised because the rain on television isn't real. That's not to say that the person using the newspaper isn't getting wet necessarily, because they are. Its just that they are on a television set so they can get dry right away, unlike you, who may have important meetings or work do to later in the day.
Step3
So, if you do decide to venture outside even though the lady on the news said that there was a chance of showers and you did prepare accordingly, what happens when you do actually get caught out in the rain? First, you'll want to immediately dash for cover. This could be an awning or roof of a local business establishment or residence. Make sure you put up your umbrella, put on your rain jacket, or pull on your waterproof footwear before continuing on in the rain.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't go outside in the first place. What the people on television don't tell you is that there is ALWAYS a chance of precipitation. Even in the desert there is a CHANCE that it might rain. The best way to stay dry is to just stay inside and do all of your shopping online.
  • Exposure to rain can cause all sorts of problems: dampness in your shoes can cause squishy sounds whenever you take a step, wet hair can really mess up your style, and rain can really dampen your spirits too and no one wants to hire or date someone who seems like they are in a bad mood.
