Homemade pecan pie is a traditional dessert on many holiday dinner tables. Use a store-bought crust to make the recipe especially easy to execute. Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup pecans, halves or pieces
  • 1 9-inch frozen pie shell, unbaked
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer
  • aluminum foil

Instructions

    • 1

      Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

      Using a mixer, combine the sugar, butter, eggs, corn syrup and vanilla.

      Stir in the pecans or save them to put on top halfway through baking.

      Cover the pie in aluminum foil. This will protect the crust from burning. Place the pie in the oven to bake for 30 minutes.

      Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the pie comes out clean.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't overcook the pie or the pecans will burn.

  • Be sure when you take the aluminium foil off of the pie for the last 10 - 15 minutes you use an oven mitt so you do not burn your hand.
