Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- trumpet
- valve oil
- slide oil
- small cleaning cloth
- patience
Step1
You should always clean your slides and valves at least once a month or more.
Step2
This is just a recommendation. If your valve is completely stuck Do Not Try to Remove it. It will only damage the valve and then you will have a whole new problem. Try adding valve oil to the one that is stuck. Do not use to much oil or it will cause problems while playing.
Step3
You should at least once or twice every couple of weeks, put a few drops (2 to 3 MAX) of valve oil to keep your trumpet in tip top shape. Or you can do it while cleaning your trumpet. You can purchase all of these items at your local music shop.
Step4

If the valve continues to stick, do not try to pry it up. Take it to a professional, as they will have the tools the take it apart for you and oil the piece up that is sticking.
