Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Read the instructions. While often over-looked in the modern world, the instructions allow you to find out sooner, rather than later, about special requirements for a particular component. Many things are pretty much universal when it come to a remote control airplane engine, but, at the same time, there are some things that are unique to the make or model of a given plane. Read the instructions before heading off the cliff; it's a great way to save hours of frustration and avoid damaging the craft.

  2. Step 2

Slide the engine into position. Do not attach anything at this point--merely slide it into place.

  3. Step 3

Identify and mark the location of any holes that need to be made in order to actually mount the motor to the airplane.

  4. Step 4

Remove the motor temporarily so that any necessary drilling may be performed.

  5. Step 5

Drill any necessary holes. While many kit airplanes have holes already in place for the attachment of the engine in the proper location, not all of the holes will be appropriate for every engine type or size. If everything lines up for mounting with the existing holes, skip this step.

  6. Step 6

Attach the motor to the remote control aircraft using a screwdriver.
