How to Write Ads

When you have something that you need to advertise, like a business or service, you will need a great ad. If your ad is just average and falls in with all of the other ads around it, you won't get much response. Advertising agencies charge a lot of money to write an ad, and you are not guaranteed results. You can learn how to write ads yourself and save time and money.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Look at other ads in the areas in which you will be placing your ad. Take a note of what kinds of ads stand out and get your attention and which ones fall out of your curiosity. You can learn a lot by reading other ads.
Step2
Make your headline stand out. The headline is the most important part of an ad. If the headline doesn't grab the attention of the reader, they will not continue to read your ad.
Step3
Talk to your target audience through the ad. You should know at whom you are aiming the ad and talk to them as if you are talking to a friend. No one wants to read a generic ad aimed at anyone. They want to be sold on a product or service.
Step4
Include benefits rather than listing off general services or qualities. For example, if you are advertising a work at home job, write "never fight traffic again" rather than "you can work from home." Let the reader know how they will benefit from this opportunity.
Step5
Offer something free in the ad. This is one of the most influential words you can write in an ad. It can be a free coupon, free report or free sample of a product.
Step6
Keep your ad as short as you can while still getting all of the information down. Customers are more likely to read small ads than long ads.
Step7
Proofread your ad before submitting it. Let someone else proofread it, if possible. Many times it is easier for someone else to catch a mistake than the person writing the ad.
