Everyone is busy today. We need some idea of where we are going and when we need to be there. Since most of us don't have the luxury of having a secretary to help us, we need to schedule and keep our own appointments. Whether you use a paper calendar, an organizer or some other method to track times of your schedule, you are using a calendar. The steps are easy, and anyone can follow them.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Schedule your time. Decide according to order and detail. Jot down doctor's appointments and meetings in a paper calendar. Look at the calendar daily to see what you have to do.
Step2
Choose what type of information to document. Are you in business for yourself and need to meet with several people or just making quick notes?
Step3
Examine details in the calendar. Use it and keep track of contact information, appointments and schedules.
Step4
Simplify your life by using the paper calendar. A desk pad monthly calendar has plenty of room to jot down appointments and you can work—right on top of it.
Step5
Write down everything you need to do or attend. Put doctor appointments, meetings, phone conferences and birthdays in your personal calendar.
Step6
Keep a calendar on your computer at work. Receive a reminder when it is time for you to keep an appointment or meet a deadline.
Step7
Get a personal calendar on many websites. Type "free calendar online" into your search engine. Find an entire list of sites to use for your own schedule.

Tips & Warnings

  • Realize that no item is too insignificant to keep on a calendar. The small scheduling notes are the ones you may need the most.
  • If you have several appointments to keep track of, you need a complex calendar system, and if your day is full of meetings, you need a hand-held computer.
  • There are many calendar booklets sold in office supply stores that have squares for your schedule on each day. Most email software has a calendar to organize your schedule on your desktop.
  • Many websites allow you to upload and share pictures that you have taken or scanned. Individual settings can be manipulated to show your personality with changes in pictures, graphics, color and font.
  • For the business owner, an organizer is best. Among business people, the portfolio-style manual organizer is a tried and true method.
