If you are a business owner, chances are you advertise your business in some way or another. Here's how to hire an advertising agency to drive more traffic to your business.

  1. Step 1

Know what you need an agency to do. Perhaps you need a few ads for the local paper and phone book. Maybe you need an entire brand made up for your company. Have a few ideas in mind, although a good agency can give you even better ideas on how to advertise.

  2. Step 2

Look at your budget and see what you can afford to pay. Keep in mind that if you spend your money on good advertising, you will be repaid many times that amount.

  3. Step 3

Ask other business owners with good advertising results what agency they used. If you ask a few different businesses and get the same agency, you will know that they are a good investment.

  4. Step 4

Look for an agency that has experience with your type of business. You want them to relate to the market you are targeting and know how to entice those buyers.

  5. Step 5

Meet with several different agencies and talk with them about their past work history, their rates and their experience in your field.

  6. Step 6

Write down all of your expectations for the entire project. Keep a copy and send a copy to the agency you hire. They may have a contract agreement for you to sign. If not, you should have one made with the expectations, rates and deadlines so that everyone knows what to expect.
