How to Hide a Hard Disk Porn Stash

Nothing is more embarrassing than someone uncovering a person's porn stash on the computer hard disk. Okay, maybe not nothing, but it is near the top of the list. Hiding porn stash on a hard drive is part art and part science.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Rename the porn file. If the name of the file is "Girls Gone Wild," it will be spotted immediately. There are several options for naming the file. The name can be an abbreviation--for example, change "Girls Gone Wild" to "GGW." The name can be a random number or name (for example, "23242" or "Stuff"). To really hide the porn stash, name it something business-oriented like "Productivity Presentation."

  2. Step 2

Store the porn stash in one folder. That way, files will not be forgotten about when trying to conceal their location and existence.

  3. Step 3

Clear the Internet browser of its history. When downloading or viewing porn, the Internet browser keeps a history of where the browser has visited. To clear the browser, go to the Internet options and select the command to delete the browsing history.

  4. Step 4

Disable the operating system history. Windows insists on listing the files you have most recently viewed from the Start menu under the "Most Recent Document" option. To disable this option, from the Start menu select "Control Panel," choose "Taskbar and Start Menu," select the "Start Menu" tab and choose "Customize." Click on the "Advanced" tab and uncheck the box that says, "List My Most Recently Opened Documents."

  5. Step 5

Be careful what software you use to view the porn stash. Almost all picture and video software keeps a history, although Internet Explorer can be used to view pictures without registering a history. To delete, consult each of the various software platforms that are used.

  6. Step 6

Hide the folder that contains the porn stash. Select the porn folder and right-click. Choose "Properties." Check the box next to "Hide," and the folder and files will be hidden. The downside to this is that a person does not have access to this file unless they make hidden files visible each time the folder is accessed. This option is best when away from the computer for long periods of time and not applicable on a regular basis.

Tips & Warnings
  • The downside to naming the porn stash files after a business-oriented file is that in a rush a person may mistake this file for actual business.

on 5/27/2008 Some of these are too difficult. Download invizivault (invizivault.com or some shareware sites) It's only $20 and creates an encrypted secret drive. U even need a special keystroke to get to the password screen. Nobody will stumble upon ur stash.
Other methods make it easy to find due to file size, etc.
