Step 1
Decide where you want to vacation, when, how long and how many people you will have with you. Having a flexible schedule may help when you want to book your accommodations. Most vacation rentals require at least a 3-night stay. Depending on the time of year, a week-long minimum stay might be required. You should find out minimums before booking and arranging your travel to and from the destination.
-
Step 2
Determine the amenities you are looking for in your vacation rental. Do you need a dishwasher and a TV? Is an air conditioner necessary? Making a list of the things that you need and the things you would like to have will help make your vacation more enjoyable. You don't want to be disappointed that you don't have something when you get to your destination.
-
Step 3
Find out about children. If you are traveling with children, find out if the rental is child-friendly. If you aren't traveling with kids and you don't want to see them on your trip, make sure that the place that you are reserving doesn't allow children.
-
Step 4
Conduct research. A number of websites list beach vacation rentals. A search on Yahoo! or Google for "vacation rentals" and the city you want to vacation in should get a number of websites that can help you find a place to stay.
-
Step 5
Call a travel agent and have her do the leg work. She will be able to put together a list of possibilities for you.
-
Step 6
Place an ad in the local paper once you have decided on your destination and the dates that you can travel. State what you are looking for in a rental.
