A spa bathroom is a delightful addition to any home. Contrary to popular opinion, however, it does not have to be an expensive addition to your home. To create a spa bathroom, you simply need to focus on creating a space that is peaceful, feels calming and fulfills your specific needs and desires.

Things You'll Need:

  • Baskets
  • Paint
  • Candles

    Inexpensive

  1. Step 1

Clean up. To be relaxing, a spa bathroom must be free of clutter. So before you change anything else, clear away the makeup, hair dryer, cotton balls and anything else that messes up your countertop.

  2. Step 2

Bring home a basket or two. Use baskets to store the clutter you cleared away earlier and to display your beautiful bath towels.

  3. Step 3

Add paint. Use a soothing color or wall treatment when creating your spa bathroom. Blues, greens, beiges and tans can all be used to create a relaxing retreat.

  4. Step 4

Play with the lighting. Add a dimmer switch for the current light fixture or place candles around the room. Using candles instead of electric lights will add romance to your spa bathroom.

  5. Step 5

Introduce scents to your space. Use scented candles or potpourri to create a relaxing atmosphere in your spa bathroom.

  6. Step 6

Add sound. Bring your CD player into your spa bathroom and listen to sounds you love: nature sounds, classical or classic rock. Keep the volume down to create a soothing background for your spa experience.

  7. More Expensive

  8. Step 1

Buy a new rug. Switch from your generic bathroom mat or rubber-backed rug to an interesting washable rug that brings interest to your new spa bathroom.

  9. Step 2

Invest in new flooring. Laminate flooring is better than hardwood because of the humidity in the bathroom, but travertine marble would be lovely.

  10. Step 3

Consider a new tub. Whether you opt for a regular tub with a few jets or a deluxe whirlpool tub, this would be the crowning piece of your newly created spa bathroom.
