    Tips & Warnings

    • Passport fees can be paid in person with cash, a certified cheque or money order payable to the Receiver General for Canada, Visa, Mastercard, American Express or an Interac debit card. If you are paying by mail you can not use cash or a debit card. The other forms of payment are acceptable by mail.

    • Apply for your Canadian passport as soon as you can prior to traveling abroad. There can be a lengthy delay in processing your application.

    • Many different kinds of professionals can serve as your guarantor. Check the Passport Canada website to see the latest list of people who can vouch for your identity.

    • You are not eligible for a refund of fees paid if your application is denied, or you later decide you do not want a passport.
