In ancient times, boomerangs were used for sport as well play. Even in these modern times, the pure thrill of throwing a boomerang is pure fun. Follow the steps below to construct your own boomerang.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stapler or metal brad
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Colored markers (optional)
  • Glitter (optional)
  1. Step 1

Cut out 2 separate strips of cardboard that are 13 by 1.5 inches long.

  2. Step 2

Lay one blade on top of the other, to form an 'X' shape.

  3. Step 3

Staple or secure the two pieces together with a brad at the center so that they are anchored together well.

  4. Step 4

Personalize your boomerang with markers, crayons or glitter.

  5. Step 5

Fold up each end of boomerang about one inch from the end of each cardboard blade.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try throwing the boomerang just like you would a baseball, with a quick snap of your wrist. Never throw it side-arm. If you do, it will go straight up in the air and swoop back down hitting you.
  • To make a stronger boomerang, try using scrap or particle board in place of cardboard.
  • Outdoors is best. Find an open area away from other people or structures to practice your throwing.
  • If the boomerang is coming too fast at you, don't try to catch it. Only attempt to catch it if it is hovering softly towards you.
