One way to jazz up a web page is with an animated GIF file. Since GIF's are based on small frame-to-frame animation, they require little memory. Here's how you can acquire some to brighten your web pages.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Look for GIFs at the large search engine service sites like Yahoo and Google. These sites often have a lot of free web enhancers including animated GIFs.
Step2
Search individual web sites. Some small-time programmers have found their way around animated GIF software and created some of their own animations that they openly post for use.
Step3
For a wide selection of animated GIFs, try a clip art warehouse like CoxImages. The English/French site has a variety of animated GIFs available. Another site, CG Grasp, is in Japanese. For art from a Christian source, try AJS graphics.
Step4
Go to forums to see what kind of animated GIFs others are talking about. A chat room lead could find you the type of animations you're looking for.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're a little tech-savvy, software like Ulead GIF animator allows you to craft your own animated GIFs. You'll have to locate the software online, download it and install it, and read the manual file.
  • It can only be assumed that freelance web designers would create any animation you want, either GIF or Flash, for a fee. If your project is specialized and has a budget, consider hired brains to make personalized animations.
