Divide clauses and phrases into separate sentences. Check for conjunctions that may contribute to run-on sentences. Never expect your readers to endure long, complicated sentences to determine what you're trying to communicate.

Write the way you speak. Most of us converse in short, comprehensible sentences without flowery language.

Have someone review your text. If he becomes easily bored or distracted, simplify your sentences. Also, reorganize and re-edit each sentence to eliminate unnecessary verbiage.
