How to Clean a Kitchen in Less than 20 minutes

You can clean your kitchen in a flash if you approach the task with a plan. Follow these steps to turn this into a pleasant chore.

Things You'll Need:

  • Cleaning sponges
  • Timer
  • Broom
  • Disinfecting cleaning solution
  1. Step 1

    Assemble all of your cleaning supplies before you begin. Run hot, soapy water inside one side of the sink or inside of a plastic tub or container. You will use this to clean and rinse your cleaning sponge.

  2. Step 2

    Take all of the dirty dishes from the counters and table, clean the food off and place them inside of the sink. Lightly spray the dishes with a cleaning or a disinfecting spray.

  3. Step 3

    Remove everything that doesn't belong from the counter and put it away. This includes food items, toys and clean dishes.

  4. Step 4

    Spray the top of the stove, the inside of the microwave and the tops of the counters with a safe cleaning spray. Let it sit.

  5. Step 5

    Unload the dishwasher (if necessary) and put away the dishes. Next, turn your attention to the floors and grab your broom to sweep up.

  6. Step 6

    Wipe down the microwave. Wipe down the counters and pull the debris into the trash can.

  7. Step 7

    Rinse each dish and place it in the dishwasher. Pour the cleaning solution into the dishwasher and hit the start button.

Tips & Warnings
  • Put on some upbeat music while you work. This will help those 20 minutes zoom by even faster.
  • Set a timer or stopwatch for 20 minutes to keep yourself on track.
  • Always use gloves while working with cleaning solutions and hot water to protect your hands.
