How to Put Together a Basic Toolbox

Even if you do not consider yourself handy around the house, you never know when you are going to need simple tools like a screwdriver or a wrench. You can put together a basic toolbox in just one trip to the home-improvement store.

2. Invest in a 16-ounce hammer, the kind with a curved claw used for removing nails.

3. Purchase a screwdriver set. While it is most convenient to buy a full set of different-sized screwdrivers, one regular and one No. 2 Phillips will suffice.

4. Buy an adjustable crescent wrench.

5. Find a pair of needle-nose pliers.

6. Pick up a sturdy tape measure with at least 12 feet of tape.

7. Buy a selection of nails and screws. Go for a prepackaged assortment to avoid having to purchase numerous boxes.

8. Consider buying a roll or 2 of duct tape.

9. Purchase a utility knife with replacement blades.

10. Arrange your new tools in your toolbox.
