How to Behave at a Nude Beach

Since nudity at the beach is common in many foreign lands and there are quite a few domestic nude beaches, you should know the etiquette used in these places. Read on.

Things You’ll Need:

• Sunscreen
• Towel

1. Know before you go to the beach if it is a nude beach, this will save you from any unwelcome shock upon arrival. Bring everything you will need to the beach since many nudist beaches do not have services.
2. Set up your beach accoutrements in a location that is not too near other bathers, but it is not necessary to seclude yourself. Apply sunscreen
3. Maintain eye contact with fellow bathers. Gawking at their nudity or avoiding them all together is rude. Treat other bathers the way you would like to be treated.
4. Swim, lounge, stroll, read, talk—do anything permitted at the beach.
5. Reapply sunscreen often; be sure to apply everywhere including back, buttocks and chest.
6. Dress before leaving the beach.

Tips & Warnings

• You do not have to go nude at a nude beach. You may still wear a swimming suit.
• Some nude beaches permit children, check before hand if this makes you uncomfortable.
• Do not stare.
• Nudity does not equal a sexually promiscuous environment.
• Do not photograph anyone without permission.
