Wear loose fitting, lightweight clothes. Dress in lighter tones, as dark colors tend to soak up the sun's sweltering heat.

Run your errands at dusk. If you need to be outdoors, do so at night time when the temperature drops a few degrees.

Take a dip. Texas offer a large number of lakes for all types of recreation. From boating to fishing, waterskiing to swimming, you're guaranteed to find a place to jump in and make a splash.

Go sightseeing. Major cities throughout Texas are home to a wide array of indoor attractions with plenty of air conditioning. The State Capitol in Austin is rich with the history of Texas, and offers free admission and guided tours. If you're in the Dallas area, the Dallas World Aquarium is a must see.

Set your household air conditioning to turn on at 78 degrees F. If you don't have air conditioning, turn on ceiling fans or place floor fans throughout the house to pull the hot air up while circulating cooler air at room level. If possible, open your windows after sundown to catch the wind off the Texas plains or the breeze from the Bay of Mexico.
