How to Find Treatment for Chronic Anxiety

Chronic anxiety often cycles with depression. Living day after day with needless fear and worry could make anyone depressed. But there is hope, treatment is available and you don't have to waste one more day trying to will your anxiety away.

Step1
Talk to your doctor, who can diagnose an anxiety disorder or refer you to someone who can.
Step2
Take your medication. Some antidepressants can alleviate a large portion of your anxiety.
Step3
Talk to your health insurance company. Learn what kind of benefit you have for mental illness.
Step4
Get counseling or therapy from a social worker, psychologist or psychiatrist who has had success with treating anxiety in the past. Ask questions before you go. Find out if the provider thinks therapy would work for you before you invest your time.
Step5
Find someone to teach you relaxation techniques. Relaxation can be done through meditation, imagery, or deep breathing exercises.
