Weddings are a memorable event that nearly all couples want to capture to remember their big day for years to come. Styles and techniques of shooting a wedding may vary, but there is a certain look and certain shots that have become traditional when it comes to weddings. Learn traditional poses and groupings in additions to the bride and grooms personalities when it comes to photographing a wedding.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Capture the couple. Take individual photos of the bride and groom together. A typical vertical portrait style is a must. Encourage them to be candid as well, sharing a kiss, walking away and holding hands, sharing a hug or gazing into the distance.
Step2
Focus on family. Take photos of the bride's family with the happy couple in the center, and do the reverse with the groom's family. Don't forget shots of the bride with her mother and sisters, and the groom with his father and brothers.
Step3
Include the wedding party. Shoot a few poses including everyone in the entire party, followed by separate shots of the bride and her bridesmaids, and the groom with his men. Some couples may request individual photos with themselves and each attendant. A shot featuring the couple with their ring bearer and flower girl are cute shots as well.
Step4
Shoot using different backgrounds - some indoors and some outdoors. Mix city shots with nature, action shots with posed shots, and vary angles and perspectives.
Step5
Ask the couple if they have any special requests. They may have a unique preference you wouldn't normally think of.
Step6
Catch images of the ceremony. Important shots are the bride walking down the aisle, the exchange of vows, the exchange of rings and the announcement of the newlyweds.
Step7
Make the reception memorable by including images of guests, toasts, dancing and group poses.
