Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Search the phone book. Most have a special section for community pages that list resources for senior citizens, including senior centers.
Step2
Look at the city or county website for your community. Many sites will have a special section for seniors with information about local resources.
Step3
Locate your local or regional Area Agency on Aging. These organizations have a wealth of information and resources available for you. Ask them for a list of senior citizens centers in your community or area.
Step4
Narrow down your search. Pick two or three senior centers that you're interested in.
Step5
Arrange a tour with the directors of each senior center. They can show you the physical properties so you get a feel for how the centers are maintained. The directors can also give you descriptions of all the activities and events they have available.
Step6
Consider your options carefully. Make sure the senior center you choose offers the activities you enjoy and it's easy for you to get there. Spend some time at a couple of different centers. You want to find a place where you feel comfortable. Meet some of the seniors who go to the centers regularly and don't be afraid to ask them questions.
Step7
Choose a senior center and start having fun!
